I still use aim 7.5, but that's mainly because I haven't bothered to see how accessible later versions are. For now, this version does all I could want and/or ask for, and not having been prompted to update, I don't bother to do so.

I use aim 7.5. Still the best version around. Later versions of aim are not accesible. Buddy list does not read at all, and tabbing around reads nothing. I tried this for myself.

also, they make it very hard to get off your system, and want you to install aim tool bar and other things that we don't need. 7.5 is bear bones.

Ah, I'm glad I didn't bother to update then. I still use aim 7.5 myself. Aim has always been my favorite instant messenger. They've added more to it over the years, but it's fairly easy to avoid all the extras if you don't want them. I will say that I never use their email service. The AOL mail site is a nightmare to get around with Jaws. It's always auto refreshing.

ah, thanks for answering my post, my work wants to use it with a person who is mute and does not have the ability to speak. I use skype, its been a while sense aim has updated that particular version of messenger I find that a security risk. So I personally will stick with skype for now. Just to let those who care, AOL is no longer updating their messenger, most of the team has been disbanded just the support team remains. I learned this by google searching it!.

That doesn't surprise me. Most people I know still use aim, but its popularity has certainly decreased significantly in the past 5 years or so. Still, I really do prefer it to other instant messengers.
